Ansell Lighting’s Sam Johnson will soon be taking on the Isle of Wight Challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK.
On Saturday the 29th of April, Sam will be jogging/hiking 32 miles around the island, from its southern point near Chale all the way to East Cowes.
He was initially hoping to raise a minimum of £250 for Cancer Research. However, he has already exceeded that target, raising nearly £600 to date.
Sam decided to take on the challenge in memory of his father who he lost to cancer in 2013, his Nan & his sister-in-law who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, as well as anyone else who has been affected by this horrible disease.
Sam has been preparing for the challenge by training in the gym and walking as much as possible at the weekends.
When asked what he was most looking forward to about the challenge, Sam said: “The feeling of crossing that finish line and of course the hot tub back at the holiday site!”
One thing is for sure, he is hoping to raise as much money for Cancer Research as possible. All of the team at Ansell are proud to support Sam with his challenge and wish him all the best.

“It was an amazing day,” a visibly tired Sam said.
”I could barely use my left leg for the last 5km but I got to that finish line”
Sam has raised more than £700 for Cancer Research UK at the time of writing. Donations are still welcome via JustGiving https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sam-iowc17
