Case Study

The Wilton Centre is the premier science park in the North East of England and provides office, laboratory, and pilot plant accommodation. The park is adjacent to Wilton International and sits in the heart of the North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC).

It is one of Europe’s largest R&D facilities and houses a number of leading global and regional businesses in the chemical, manufacturing, material, and life science industries.

The complex is set in a 75-acre landscaped park with its own lake and courtyards. A variety of areas were the subject of lighting upgrades and across the facilities you’ll find our Vasco LED CCT Suspended Linear, Comfort LED HP Downlight and Pace LED.

Let’s begin with the reception area, seating areas and office spaces where our stunning Vasco Suspended Linear hangs beautifully from the ceiling.

It’s notoriously difficult for a product to get the combination of form and function right. However, when it comes to Vasco, it’s stunning yet powerful. The aluminium extruded construction provides the premium look and feel, and it comes in two fantastic finishes – aluminium and black. For all the beauty Vasco boasts, it has the power to match.

Vasco comes in both 50W (50W exceeds performance of 2x28W T5) and 60W, comes with a supplied bi-directional light output as standard with 70% downward light and 30% upward light ratio (directional only option can be selected if required) and features selectable CCT between 3000K, 4000K and 6000K output.

Additional features:

  • Pre-wired with 1.5 metre cable
  • Opal diffuser provides optimal light uniformity
  • Adjustable suspension points c/w suspension kit
  • 1-10v dimmable as standard

Vasco is the ultimate suspended linear. Immensely popular for commercial applications for its aesthetics and power, it’s the reliability of the product that’s the true secret sauce. Vasco has a three-year warranty and LED lifespan L90 36,000 hours giving you the installer and your clients the peace of mind you want from any lighting product.

Focusing now on the cafeteria, our Comfort LED HP Downlight and Pace LED provide reliable and economic illumination across the entire space.

We designed the Comfort with several core principles in mind. They are reliability, efficiency, and uniformity.

Comfort’s polycarbonate housing incorporates unique thermal management for durability and optimum lifespan. Further adding to its reliability credentials is an impressive LED lifespan L70 50,000 hours.

The downlight features Osram LED technology and enhanced diffuser design for outstanding uniformity. A deep cut-off angle also aides in providing glare control and comfort. The design of Comfort also allows installation into existing hole-cut outs from 200mm to 220mm.

Dimmable and Emergency options are also available.

Accompanying the Comfort in the Cafeteria is our high-performance maintenance free LED panel, Pace LED.

When you think performance, think Pace panel. Powered by Philips and coming in an array of options such as Cool White, Warm White and Daylight along with Digital Dimming and OCTO Smart Control functionality, you can be sure that Pace offers up a recessed panel experience like no other can.

Pace is a UGR<19 (unified glare rating) compliant luminaire assisting to eliminate glare for visual comfort and its slimline design allows for installation into shallow ceiling voids.

The panel is Self-Test Panel Pod and Sensor Pod compatible and comes with TPa as standard.

A five-year warranty and LED lifespan of L80 B10 54,000 hours also provided the installation team at the Wilton Centre the peace of mind needed with big projects.

The project is now complete. The Wilton Centre enjoys all the benefits of their new energy efficient, powerful, and reliable luminaires that allow the building occupants to thrive in well-lit spaces with visual comfort. Lighting in work spaces is so important. Well thought-out lighting designs can lead to increased productivity, a rise in energy levels and so much more.
